PHOTOGRAPHY, HOUSEWARES & GIFTS
Hey my name is Kelly and I am an award winning photographer based in Hobart. I have always enjoyed art and being creative and have found that over the last few years I have migrated more towards photography and it has now become my main way of expressing myself artistically. I have won numerous awards both on a national and international level but after winning the title of 2013 Emerging Tasmanian Photographer of the Year in the Australian Institute Of Professional Photographer State Awards it gave me the push I needed to start making goals for the future, one of them being to get my work and name out there.
I mostly use methods such as Kinetic Photography ie. encompassing motion , to create my abstract styled images and especially love shooting with my macro equipment. Over the last 6 months I have been working on rebranding which has resulted in a new design label named Incito by Kelly Gerdes and have looked for alternative mediums to print on such as high quality linens and cottons which I then sew in to items such as cushions. I think it gives a nice unique alternative to photographic prints on paper that is commonly available, although I do still sell these too.
Incito means to excite and inspire and I aim to do that with my imagery and products while tying to achieve a unique and modern feel to them. I draw my inspiration from lots of colour and seeing something different in the little things that people may otherwise miss.
